Cowboy Cal is second as the
Derby field makes the first turn

With three homebred runners in Classic races over the past weekend, hopes were running high at Stonerside. However, none of three were able to hit the board, with Raven's Pass's fourth place finish in the Two Thousand Guineas proving the best effort of the bunch.

Friday at Churchill Downs, showers that were supposed to hit the Louisville, Kentucky track well after post time for the Kentucky Oaks instead turned into heavy rain and high winds partway through the afternoon.

Janice and Robert McNair of Stonerside Stable announced today that any earnings by their homebred Cowboy Cal in the Kentucky Derby on May 3 will be donated to the University of Texas M D Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, in memory of John Long.
